Ruark Audio Talisman-R review: Discreet passive speakers with impeccable finish

Ruark Audio has released the Talisman-R, a new pair of passive floorstanding speakers that pay homage to the company's original 1990s design. Featuring a compact, sloping 'double baffle' cabinet, the speakers house a 27mm silk dome tweeter and a 170mm mid/bass driver, complemented by a front-facing bass reflex port. Priced at $2,399 / £1,499 / AU$3,299, the Talisman-R is noted for its build quality and sophisticated aesthetic. In terms of performance, the speakers are praised for their organizational control, rhythmic confidence, and detailed midrange reproduction. While they may lack the physical scale of larger competitors, they offer a balanced and entertaining sound profile suitable for various listening environments. With a 6-ohm impedance and 87dB sensitivity, they are relatively easy to drive, making them a strong contender in the premium stereo speaker market for those prioritizing precision and design over sheer size.
