EVgo to launch 750kW ultra-fast charging stations in the US by 2027

Charging provider EVgo has announced plans to deploy new 750kW ultra-fast charging stations in the United States by 2027. These stations aim to reduce charging times for high-performance electric vehicles to approximately ten minutes. The technology will feature dynamic power sharing, allowing the infrastructure to optimize energy delivery across multiple connected vehicles, regardless of their individual charging capacities. While this represents a significant advancement for the US market, the industry continues to face competition from China, where manufacturers like Geely and BYD are already deploying megawatt-level charging systems. Geely, in particular, has begun installing 2.2MW chargers capable of charging sessions as short as five and a half minutes. As global manufacturers push for higher voltage architectures, the race to standardize ultra-fast charging infrastructure remains a critical factor in accelerating the mass adoption of electric vehicles and mitigating range anxiety.
