NordLayer launches AI Scout to combat shadow AI and data leakage risks

NordLayer has introduced AI Scout, a new security tool designed to monitor and manage the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace. As employees increasingly adopt unsanctioned AI chatbots—a phenomenon known as shadow AI—companies face growing risks of data leaks and security breaches. AI Scout operates by monitoring browser and desktop interactions to identify both authorized and unauthorized AI services. The tool provides administrators with visibility into real-time AI usage, token consumption, and the technical relationships between AI agents and business systems. Crucially, it features pre-submission controls that can redact or block sensitive prompts before they are transmitted to external AI models. By centralizing telemetry on AI activity, NordLayer aims to help organizations enforce governance and mitigate the financial and security impacts associated with unmanaged AI adoption, which recent reports suggest can significantly increase the costs of data breaches.
