Ahead of the transition to unified social studies textbooks in Russian schools for the 2026/27 academic year, where student answers will be strictly evaluated based on official content, a prototype of a specialized AI assistant has been developed. The project creator built a chatbot that helps find precise answers directly within 9th and 10th-grade textbooks, providing specific page references. The technical implementation utilizes pymupdf4llm and FAISS for document processing, the multilingual-e5-large embedding model for retrieval, and the Qwen2.5-3B language model for generating responses. The entire stack was deployed on a free T4 GPU. This tool is designed to help students navigate standardized curriculum material, ensuring that their answers align with the official program, which is becoming critical as requirements for school assessments tighten.
