The 3 kg autonomous underwater drone is designed to mimic the appearance and movement of a real fish, making it a potential tool for covert surveillance and military operations. While the company markets the device for various uses, including marine research and anti-poaching efforts, its military-civil fusion background and the lack of disclosed technical specifications—such as battery life and sensor capabilities—have raised questions about its primary application. The BG-5, which has been in development since at least 2021, can operate at depths of up to 5 meters at a speed of 0.6 m/s.
