Would you buy Meta’s smart glasses without a camera?

Meta is reportedly developing a new pair of camera-free smart glasses, internally codenamed 'Luna,' to address growing privacy concerns surrounding its existing wearable technology. Amid backlash over unauthorized filming and the rise of detection apps like 'ZuckOff,' which alerts users to nearby smart glasses, Meta aims to pivot toward an audio-centric experience. The proposed Luna glasses would feature six microphones for AI assistant interaction and built-in speakers, maintaining the utility of Meta AI without the social friction caused by integrated cameras. While the company has seen significant success with its current Ray-Ban Meta line, selling over 7 million units in 2025, the move reflects a strategic attempt to mitigate privacy criticism. By removing the lens, Meta hopes to offer a more socially acceptable wearable that still provides hands-free access to its AI ecosystem, potentially debuting at the upcoming Connect conference.
