Ukraine's army is turning Humvees into remote-controlled vehicles connected by Starlink

The Ukrainian firm Drone Fight Group has introduced 'Kaban,' a bolt-on kit that converts existing Humvees into remotely operated ground vehicles. Designed to be installed without structural modifications, the system allows military crews to switch between manual and remote operation as needed. The platform relies on SpaceX's Starlink for primary connectivity, with analog video and radio links serving as backups. This innovation enables operators to control vehicles from a distance, enhancing safety while utilizing existing military hardware. Beyond basic mobility, the Kaban system supports additional equipment such as thermal cameras, searchlights, and drone-launching platforms. By repurposing thousands of available Humvees rather than building new robotic platforms from scratch, the Ukrainian military aims to rapidly scale its unmanned ground capabilities.
