Tottenham Hotspur cuts licensing costs by 85 percent via VMware migration

Tottenham Hotspur has successfully reduced its IT licensing fees by over 85 percent by migrating its stadium infrastructure away from VMware. The Premier League soccer club transitioned its server, storage, and networking systems to Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) solutions. According to CTO Rob Pickering, the new infrastructure is managed through HPE’s GreenLake hybrid cloud platform and utilizes Morpheus VM Essentials (VME) for virtualization, alongside HPE’s OpsRamp for hybrid and multi-cloud management. While the club did not disclose specific details regarding its previous VMware expenditures or the exact products replaced, the move represents a significant shift in its digital strategy. By adopting HPE’s managed services, the organization aims to streamline its technical operations and achieve substantial cost efficiencies in its stadium's backend infrastructure.
