While the availability of these guides is a positive step for device longevity and user repairability, they also highlight the inherent difficulty of upgrading the hardware. Specifically, the RAM replacement process is notably complex, requiring 49 steps and the careful handling of delicate components like Wi-Fi antennas. Critics suggest that the internal layout makes simple upgrades unnecessarily tedious, posing a risk of accidental damage for less experienced users. Although replacement parts are not yet widely available for purchase, the collaboration signals Valve's commitment to supporting the device's lifecycle, mirroring the support model established for the Steam Deck.
