Roland enters the generative AI music space with Melody Flip

Legendary music equipment manufacturer Roland has officially entered the generative AI music market with the launch of its new tool, Melody Flip. Unlike fully automated song generators, Melody Flip is designed as a plug-in for digital audio workstations (DAWs), intended to serve as a creative assistant for musicians rather than a replacement. The tool features approximately 250 'Palettes,' which are curated collections of musical ideas categorized by genre. Users can manipulate these melodic building blocks to spark inspiration or iterate on existing compositions. By integrating AI directly into the professional production workflow, Roland aims to provide a more controlled, artist-centric approach to generative technology.
