The Real Demand for AI Engineers: A Job Market Analysis

The author of the article decided to verify the popular belief that the job market is saturated with openings for AI specialists. By analyzing 34,053 active job postings in the 'Information Technology' category on hh.ru, the author searched for keywords related to AI, such as LLM, GPT, RAG, and agents. The results were unexpected: only 853 vacancies (about 2.5% of the total) mentioned AI technologies. Even with an extended search through full job descriptions, the vast majority of employers (84%) do not mention AI in their requirements at all. This study challenges the narrative of the widespread adoption of AI tools in daily development, suggesting that the hype surrounding these technologies has not yet translated into mass demand for such specialists in the Russian labor market.
