Telecommunications company Ooma has announced a new partnership with Starlink to launch 'Ooma StarDial,' a service designed to bring reliable home phone connectivity to rural and remote locations. By integrating with Starlink’s satellite internet, the service aims to provide a landline alternative for areas where cellular coverage is inconsistent or unavailable. The hardware package, which includes a base station and handset, is priced at $129.99 with no recurring monthly service fees, though users remain responsible for applicable taxes and regulatory charges. The service supports standard features such as 911 access, caller ID, voicemail, and call waiting, and allows users to retain their existing phone numbers. Ooma highlights that this solution is particularly beneficial for residents in remote cabins, RVs, and boats, offering a stable communication option in regions where traditional infrastructure remains difficult to deploy.
