Ookla shares Android foldable benchmarks as iPhone Duo looms

As the tech industry anticipates the upcoming launch of Apple's first foldable device, the iPhone Duo, Ookla has released a comprehensive benchmark report comparing current Android foldable smartphones. The analysis evaluates six popular models, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, using standard slab models as control groups. The report highlights that while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra leads in download and upload speeds, it faces challenges in signal quality compared to its non-foldable counterparts. Additionally, the data indicates that while Samsung has improved general performance metrics over successive generations, some areas like signal strength in poor conditions and thermal throttling have shown regression. Despite increasing competition from brands like Motorola and Google, Samsung maintains a dominant 77 percent share of the global foldable market.
