Modders discover way to play PS5 games on Xbox consoles

A modder named Devran Cosmo Uenal has developed an early-stage emulator called PS5X, which allows for the execution of PlayStation 5 titles on the Xbox Series X. The project is a port of the open-source PC emulator KytyPS5. While the emulator currently supports only a limited library of smaller games like Quake 2 and Gex Trilogy, it demonstrates the technical possibility of cross-platform emulation. The software faces significant hurdles, primarily due to the Xbox's reliance on DirectX, whereas the emulator utilizes the Vulkan graphics API. Performance remains inconsistent, with frame rate issues and graphical glitches common in current testing. The emulator is not yet publicly available, though developers intend to leverage the Xbox's developer mode for future distribution.
