European manufacturer Kubb has unveiled an ultra-luxury, custom-built version of its fanless mini PC, constructed entirely from 13kg of 24-carat gold. Commissioned by a private client, the device is valued at approximately $1.7 million. Beyond its status as a high-end display of wealth, the gold chassis serves a functional purpose; gold offers roughly 30% better thermal conductivity than the aluminum typically used in the Kubb Fanless model, significantly enhancing the unit's passive cooling capabilities. While the price tag is astronomical, industry observers suggest the purchase may also be viewed as a tangible investment in precious metals. The PC maintains the compact 120mm cube form factor of the standard model and can be configured with high-end components like Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen AI processors, making it a unique intersection of luxury jewelry and high-performance computing hardware.
