Lenovo has unveiled the ThinkCentre X Ultra at IFA 2026, a compact 1.6-liter desktop designed for local agentic AI workloads. Powered by AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 APU, the system features 128GB of unified memory, allowing users to run large AI models without relying on cloud infrastructure. A standout feature is the ability to cluster up to four units together, creating a combined pool of 512GB of memory for complex multi-agent workflows. The device includes enterprise-grade security, DASH manageability, and a self-healing BIOS. While the starting price is $3,699, the cluster configuration offers a localized alternative to expensive cloud-hosted GPU instances. However, questions remain regarding connectivity bandwidth and performance compared to dedicated enterprise-grade hardware like the Nvidia H100. The ThinkCentre X Ultra is scheduled for release in November 2026, targeting developers and professionals needing high-capacity local compute.
