Google Patches Critical Chrome Zero-Day Under Active Exploitation

Google has released an urgent update for the Chrome browser across Windows, Mac, and Linux to address 12 security vulnerabilities. Most notably, the update patches CVE-2026-85046, a high-severity type confusion flaw in the V8 JavaScript engine that is currently being exploited in the wild. This marks the sixth zero-day vulnerability Google has addressed in Chrome this year. The flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code within the browser's sandbox using a specially crafted HTML page. Because the vulnerability affects the underlying Chromium engine, users of other browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi are also urged to update their software immediately. Google is rolling out the fix gradually, and users are encouraged to manually check for updates via the 'About Google Chrome' menu to ensure they are protected against potential attacks.
