Geely Unveils 2.2MW Ultra-Fast EV Charging Technology

Geely has announced a new AI-powered charging system capable of delivering 2.2 megawatts of power, potentially allowing electric vehicles to reach a full charge in just four minutes. The technology is set to debut with the upcoming Geely Galaxy E5, an all-electric premium SUV featuring an 800V architecture and the company's new Aegis Short Blade battery. The system utilizes AI for advanced thermal management, ensuring battery longevity despite the extreme charging speeds. This development places Geely in direct competition with BYD and Zeekr, both of which have recently introduced their own megawatt-scale charging solutions. As China prepares for a massive increase in EV adoption by 2030, the expansion of high-power charging infrastructure has become a critical priority. Geely’s innovation aims to mitigate range anxiety by significantly reducing downtime, marking another milestone in the global race to make electric vehicle refueling as convenient as traditional combustion engine refueling.
