Focal Mu-so Hekla review: a potent, super-immersive wireless speaker in a sleek soundbar's clothing

The Focal Mu-so Hekla is a high-end wireless speaker that blurs the line between a premium audio system and a soundbar. Despite Focal’s insistence on its classification, the device features a soundbar-like form factor, HDMI eARC connectivity, and Dolby Atmos support. Equipped with 15 individual drivers and 660 watts of Naim-designed Class D power, the Hekla delivers a 7.1.2-channel spatial audio experience. The unit boasts a sleek aluminum design, an iconic control dial, and extensive connectivity options including Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and support for major streaming services like Qobuz, Spotify, and TIDAL. While its identity as a 'home cinema system' versus a traditional soundbar remains a point of discussion, the Hekla offers impressive technical specifications and build quality. It supports high-resolution audio up to 32bit/384kHz, making it a powerful, albeit expensive, solution for users seeking an immersive, all-in-one home audio experience.
