Enthusiast transforms Mac Mini into 3D-printed portable PC

A tech enthusiast known as Shing Solutions has successfully converted an M4 Mac Mini into a fully functional, battery-powered handheld computer dubbed the 'Mac Nano.' By stripping the desktop computer down to its motherboard and original cooling system, the creator integrated the hardware into a custom 3D-printed enclosure. The device features a 7-inch 120Hz touchscreen, a compact QWERTY keyboard, and physical gaming controls derived from Nintendo Joy-Con components. To manage the complex connectivity, a custom USB hub was implemented to support the various peripherals. The design retains the Mac Mini's modularity, allowing the computing core to slide out for maintenance. While the project relies on Steam’s controller mapping to bridge compatibility gaps for the wired Joy-Cons, it successfully transforms Apple’s desktop silicon into a portable, untethered machine, demonstrating a creative approach to hardware modification and custom chassis design.
