Electric air taxis get the green light for flight tests in Texas

A new federal initiative, the Advanced Air Mobility and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), has officially launched in Texas. Managed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the program aims to evaluate the feasibility of electric, hybrid-electric, and autonomous aircraft. This pilot project is notable for commencing before final regulatory frameworks for this emerging technology have been fully established. The FAA has selected eight state-led initiatives to participate in this program, marking a significant step toward integrating air taxis into the national airspace.
