DJI Launches Second-Gen Romo Robot Vacuum with Enhanced Privacy and Unique Design

DJI has unveiled the Romo 2 Series, the second generation of its robot vacuum, featuring a distinctive design inspired by the iMac G3 and HR Giger aesthetics. Available in transparent (P2) and opaque (A2) models, the vacuum leverages DJI’s drone expertise, utilizing advanced LiDAR and dual-eye fisheye sensors for precise 3D mapping and obstacle avoidance. Mechanical improvements include pop-out wheels for climbing steps up to 4cm and a swiveling mop arm that extends reach under furniture. Addressing security concerns following the previous model's data breach, DJI has introduced a 'Local Data Mode' that allows users to completely sever the device's internet connection. This feature ensures that data remains local, prioritizing user privacy while maintaining the vacuum's advanced cleaning capabilities. The Romo 2 aims to set a new standard for home automation by integrating aerial robotics intelligence into a terrestrial cleaning device.
