Diablo 5 developers reveal player character's unique bond with Diablo

During the 'Forging the Next Era' panel, developers of the upcoming Diablo 5 shared new details regarding the game's protagonist, the Heir of Westmarch. Unlike previous wanderers, this character is a fugitive fleeing the forces of hell. Narrative director Jennifer Hepler confirmed that the Heir shares a 'unique bond' with Diablo, which will be explored throughout the game. This connection provides the player with insight into the antagonist's motivations while creating a specific vulnerability to his influence. The narrative focuses on the player's ability to resist Diablo's power and potentially turn it against him. The story kicks off when the protagonist discovers they can enter and survive the terror realm.
