Boy develops 'toasted skin' condition from daily laptop use

Doctors Mara Znagoveanu and Edward Artley examined the child, who presented with a 15-centimeter reddish-brown rash on his abdomen. The marks, characterized by interlacing lines and irregular circles, were painless and not warm to the touch. Despite the alarming appearance, the boy was otherwise healthy with no history of trauma or systemic symptoms. The report highlights a rare dermatological condition known as erythema ab igne, or 'toasted skin syndrome,' which results from chronic exposure to heat sources.
