Boox has officially showcased the Boox Picco at IFA 2026, a new ultra-compact ereader featuring a 3.97-inch e-paper display. Designed to compete with the Xteink X4 Pro, the device includes physical page-turn buttons, a front light, a microSD card slot, and a USB-C port. Unlike Boox’s larger, Android-powered models, the Picco runs on a Linux-based operating system, which limits access to popular apps like Kindle or Kobo and requires users to sideload content. While the device lacks the magnetic attachment feature found on Xteink models, it offers a more standard charging experience via USB-C. The software includes built-in tools like a Pomodoro timer and reading statistics. Although pricing remains unconfirmed, industry speculation suggests a target around $100.
