Bitdefender Launches Temporary VPN for AI Agents on Apple Silicon Macs

Bitdefender has introduced a new privacy tool specifically designed for autonomous AI agents. Unlike traditional VPNs that provide a persistent connection, this tool creates disposable, temporary encrypted tunnels that deactivate immediately after an agent completes a task. Built on a Model Context Protocol server architecture, the service aims to prevent AI agents from inheriting a user's household IP address, thereby enhancing privacy and enabling clean-IP browsing for tasks like multi-region price comparisons. Currently in public beta, the tool is exclusively available for macOS devices running on Apple M-series processors. It integrates automatically with platforms such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Codex. While it offers significant privacy benefits for autonomous workflows, Bitdefender clarifies that it does not protect the host device's other applications or mask prompt content from the AI providers themselves. The company plans to expand support to additional operating systems following the testing phase.
