Bentley's debut EV is a £173k luxury missile in SUV form that can out-accelerate supercars

Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, its first all-electric SUV, marking a significant shift for the British luxury brand. Built on Porsche’s PPE architecture, the vehicle features an 876bhp dual-motor powertrain in its range-topping S model, capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. The SUV is equipped with a 113kWh battery, offering a range of 375 miles and 400kW fast-charging capabilities. Despite previously planning to go fully electric by 2030, Bentley has adjusted its strategy to offer diverse powertrains. The Torcal emphasizes a unique sensory experience, featuring a 'Bentley Dynamic Symphony' soundtrack created from real instruments to mimic internal combustion engine characteristics. With a starting price of £173,300, the vehicle blends traditional craftsmanship with modern electric performance. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Summer 2027, positioning the Torcal as a high-performance competitor in the luxury EV market.
