Android can now securely migrate your logins between password managers

Google has introduced a new, secure migration system for Android that simplifies the process of transferring login credentials between different password managers. Previously, users often had to rely on manual entry or unencrypted CSV exports to switch services, which posed security risks and significant inconvenience. The new feature allows for a direct, phone-based transfer process, ensuring that credentials remain protected during the migration. To utilize this, users must have both the source and destination apps installed on their Android device. The feature is currently supported by Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden, and Dashlane. By integrating this functionality directly into the Android operating system, Google aims to reduce the friction associated with switching security tools, encouraging users to maintain better password hygiene without the tedious overhead of manual data management.
